Marcel's began as an idea between two friends. Jaime Pena with many years of experience in the Hotel/Bar business and a good friend, Steve Abate, with hospitality experience and personality plus.
They shared the idea of opening a neightborhood gathering place for a nice cold drink and a bite to eat. In April 1994 Marcel's Eating and Drinking opened it's doors at Union Hills Dr. and 32nd Street.
Dubbed earlyl on by a loyal customer as "Your Home Away from Home" and the place "Where You Never Meet a Stranger",
Marcel's progressed throught the years with the help of many hard working employees, such Kenny Dumas, Chef at The Point Hilton, and chief cook and bottle washer at Marcel's, also Buck Blackwell who made Marcel's the #1 Karaoke Bar in the northeast Valley and no one will ever forget Mercedes VanKotten, daughter of Dracula, as Jaime lovingly referred to her as, manager of Marcel's through all the years of college at ASU. There are many more great people who have been with Marcel's through the years, to numerous to mention.
Many of these people have moved on, but Marcel's now has many loyal customers that refer to us as"Their Home Away from Home". Marcel's strives to provide a Cold Drink, Good Food, Karaoke, Open Mic, Live Entertainment and Your Favorite Sport Events that you can enjoy at prices that you are going to love.
